In the words of T-Swift – Coaches Corner – 4/18/24

By the end of today, we were struggling to keep our Eyes Open asking Is it over now? Some matches left us feeling Enchanted, and after some, we just had to Shake it off. We know All Too Well that the difference between a win and a loss is a Delicate balance, and sometimes Endgame just isn’t enough to get us Out Of The Woods.

As some people reading this may not know, the kids have labeled me a “Swift-y” (which is a charge I have not denied.) I received this label in part because I like to listen to her music during event setup and in part because of my MASSIVE overuse of the words “Shake It Off!!!” when ever anything goes even mildly wrong for the team.

Not only is the team competing this week and dealing with the problems that normally go with that, but they are also meeting teams and competing in some matches with teams with whom they don’t share a primary language. One of the coolest things about this competition is that we are able to meet teams not only from around the country but from around the world!

For example, I have been doing a bunch of work with a team from Jamaica all week, trying to help them fix issues they are having with their robot. Do I think it will be fully functional by the time qualifying matches end tomorrow afternoon?
Probably not, their robot is being a trouble maker.

Do I think I will try to work with, and get our team to mentor AISK Hurricane next season?
Absolutely.

Tomorrow is a new day, with (at least) 4 more matches ahead of us!
(Well, five matches if you include the traffic we need to battle through in order to get there in the first place)

As one of our parents SHOUTED during opening ceremonies: “WIN IF YOU CAN, LOSE IF YOU MUST, BUT BE HAVING FUN!”

As always, I am sure RoBovines will give it their all tomorrow, but just in case they can’t pull off a win, well… In the words of the GREAT Taylor Swift:

SHAKE IT OFF
