The First – 4/17/24

Well, the first day is in the books. It was a long day for sure, but we met a lot of people and got a lot done. Now we are all back in the hotel and getting ready for bed.

Our day started with judging. It went very well, and we got lots of questions.

Unlike most of our past competitions, we got tons of questions about programming. They were very surprised that we wrote custom code to plan our autonomous paths on the fly and that we designed our code to be easily changed based on our alliance partner.

In total, our judging interview lasted a little over 20 minutes.
(5 minutes over the allotted 15)

After the Judging and inspections were finished, we went and watched the opening ceremonies. One of the coaches, Paul Dohn, from our friends, team Tardis, was a finalist for the compass award!!

After the opening ceremonies were done, matches began. We did some testing on the practice field, and met with our alliance partner, and before we knew it, it was time for our first match. We put up a good fight, but unfortunately, Dyrel was not able to find it’s way through the traffic, and we were not able to put up a win. But sometimes, that is the way things go. We will regroup, make some repairs, and get back at it bright and early tomorrow!!!
